For YouTube

Publish more,
edit less.

The bottleneck for most YouTube channels is not ideas. It is the hours between finishing a recording and having something publishable. That gap is what Blob is aimed at.

  1. 01

    Tighten the recording

"Cut the filler and any pause over a second." On a long take, that is often minutes of runtime.

  2. 02

    Layer it up

Chapters, b-roll over the flat stretches, music under the intro, captions throughout.

  3. 03

    Cut the Shorts

"Pull three vertical clips from this": the same project, no re-import.

The edit is the bottleneck, not the recording

Ask most creators what limits their output and they will not say ideas or filming. They will say the edit. A twenty-minute talking-head video is an afternoon of scrubbing, cutting, layering and exporting, and it is the part that makes a weekly schedule feel impossible.

That afternoon is also mostly not creative. It is finding pauses, removing them, and rippling everything downstream. It is placing captions. It is scrolling a stock library for a cutaway. The decisions that actually shape the video (what stays, what order, where the energy dips) take minutes. The execution takes hours.

Describing the edit collapses the execution. "Cut the dead air, add captions, put b-roll over the section where I explain the setup" is a sentence and a bit, and the decisions in it are yours.

Long-form and Shorts from one recording

Nearly every channel now runs two formats, and the second one is usually derived from the first. Cut the twenty-minute video, then go back and pull vertical clips out of it.

Done conventionally that is a second project: re-import, re-crop to 9:16, re-caption because the horizontal captions are now the wrong size and in the wrong place, re-export. It is why so many channels publish long-form consistently and Shorts sporadically.

In Blob it is another instruction against the same project. "Pull three vertical clips from this: the setup explanation, the pricing bit, and the closing joke." Reframing, captioning and re-timing come with it. If a crop puts the wrong thing in frame, circle what should stay visible and it recomposes around that.

That matters because marketers rank short-form video as their top format for return on investment, well ahead of long-form, and for most channels the Shorts are the discovery surface that feeds the main channel.

B-roll without the stock-library detour

The classic YouTube problem: twelve minutes of a person talking, and the middle four minutes are visually dead. You know exactly where the energy dips because you felt it while recording.

The traditional fix is a stock search, and it is a genuine time sink, scrolling libraries for something that is approximately relevant, then paying for a clip that does not quite match your colour grade.

Ask for the cutaway instead, anchored to what you said rather than a timecode: "add b-roll while I explain the pricing change." The shot gets generated to match the aspect ratio and tone of the surrounding footage. If it is wrong, "less corporate" or "make it a wide shot" is one more sentence. How that works.

Captions and retention

Captions on YouTube long-form should behave differently from social captions, and getting this wrong costs you.

On a Short, big animated word-by-word captions are part of the design. On a fifteen-minute video, the same treatment is exhausting, text flashing at the viewer for a quarter of an hour. Long-form wants quieter, bottom-anchored, full-phrase subtitles that stay legible and stay out of the way.

A practical split that works: burned-in captions from Blob on the Shorts, where they are part of the design, and YouTube's own automatic caption track on the long-form upload, which viewers can toggle and YouTube can read. More on caption styling.

Questions

How long a video can I edit?
Long-form recordings are a normal use case. The pacing pass in particular saves the most time on the longest recordings, because filler is spread across the whole runtime.
Can I get chapters?
Ask for them and you get chapter markers based on the structure of what you said, ready to paste into your description.
Will the Shorts crop cut off the thing I am holding?
Automatic reframing usually tracks the face. If the important thing is a product or a screen, circle it and Blob keeps that in frame instead.
Can I keep a consistent look across videos?
Yes. Describe your caption style, music feel and pacing once and ask for the same treatment on later videos.
